Where
is the Hugg-Inn resort located?
The Hugg-Inn resort is located just two miles east of Geddes,
South Dakota. Geddes is a small,
rural, friendly town of less than 300 people located on Highway 50 part
of the Lewis and Clark Trail and less than 10 minutes from the
Missouri River. Click here

Has
the Hugg-Inn resort
completed its renovation?
The Hugg-Inn resort vision is almost fully realized. The first,
second and third floors are now complete with a total of eight bedrooms
supporting fifteen beds. There are seven bathrooms, two kitchens, a
bar, laundry, satellite TV, three dining areas, a game room and access
to four patio decks.
Work in progress continues on the fourth floor. Come take the tour and
watch the progress each year as you return.
How
soon do I need to book the Hugg-Inn resort for
my pheasant hunt?
The sooner you book the Hugg-Inn
resort the sooner your pheasant hunting reservation
will be secured. Early pheasant season hunts are booked up 10-12 months
ahead of time.
What
type of cover do you hunt?
Pheasant hunts will be a mixture of cropland, CRP, trees,
sloughs, draws, creek beds, milo, corn and cane food plots.
Do
you hunt pheasants on private or public land?
We only hunt on private land on which we have exclusive hunting
rights.
Will
I see a lot of pheasants?
You will get a chance to see and shoot at way more pheasants
than your limit. We can't guarantee that you'll be able to hit all of
them! However practice makes perfect . Contact
us to reserve your next season and secure your place on the field.
Do
I have to shoot steel shot? What ammunition can I shoot?
None of our pheasant hunts require steel or non-toxic shot. You
may shoot lead 4, 5 or 6 shot. For a 12 gauge, we recommend 2 3/4",
1 1/4 oz. of shot. For a 20 gauge, a 3" magnum is recommended.
However, if you plan on road hunting, steel shot is a requirement.
Do
you have a place I can shoot clay targets?
Yes, a hand thrower for sporting clays is available for hunters
to sharpen their shooting skills.
Can
I bring my own hunting dog?
Yes, you can bring your own hunting dog but it must be under
control and your hunting dog must work close (30 yards). If there are
several dogs in the party we may limit the number of them used at one
time.
Do
you have kennels?
No, at the present time we do not have kennels.
Do
you allow dogs in the Hugg-Inn resort?
No dogs are allowed in the resort. If the weather becomes too
cold at night, dogs are allowed to stay in the enclosed patio.
Are
the pheasant hunts guided?
Yes, our experienced guides keep the pheasant hunts organized
and under control.
Are
the pheasant hunts safe?
We have a safety briefing before the first pheasant hunt in which
our safety rules are explained. Shooting glasses are recommended.
Do
I need blaze orange clothing to pheasant hunt?
State law does not require it but we highly recommend that for
the sake of safety you wear a blaze orange vest, hat or jacket.
How
do I purchase my pheasant hunting license?
You can either buy your pheasant hunting license in South Dakota
or purchase it online at South
Dakota Game Fish and Parks Homepage.
What does
a hunting license cost?

Do
I need a hunter's safety card to purchase a pheasant hunting license?
Pheasant hunters under the age of 16 will either need a previous
hunting license from the state of South Dakota
or a hunter's safety card and a parent or guardian to sign the pheasant
hunting license.
How
do we get our pheasants home?
Bring a cooler and a roll of duct tape, we provide a freezer
to store the birds and will pack it for you.
